Race Results

The Junior section of the Harriers dominated the South Park, parkrun on Sunday morning taking top 3 spots (Rowan Steel, Ollie Curran and Lottie Graves) and a large percentage of Top 10 places too. Just a reminder to all runners, if you (or your child) are running for the club then please update your profiles with the club name. Well done all of you, full results can be found here

Dave McKenna and Steven Elliott were our only competitors at the Coniston 14mile road race on Saturday morning, a race which is described as “probably Britain’s most beautiful road race”. Full results can be found here but we can confirm that Dave finished the race in 1:45:33 and Steven 1:47:12.

We also had two of our runners at the Beamish Hall 10km race on Saturday, part of the Wild Deer events in Durham. No Results have been published as yet so more from Deborah (Baldwin-Sykes) and Sarah (Neve).

At the Manchester events today Ben Potter was one of our two runners competing in the half distance finishing in a superb 1:18:05 for 60th place with Andrew Glencross 2:03:12 rolling his place on from 2019 while Paul Dunne took on the full Marathon finishing in an excellent 3:41:13.

We had a number of runners at the Redcar Running Festival competing in the Beacon 2km, 5km, Zetland 10km and Half Marathon distances. Unfortunately due to a slight mis-measurement on the 5km course all races were long on the day…which I hear nobody likes!

Libby Hammond and Isabelle Holdcroft were in action at the 2km fun run finishing 3rd (1st girl) and 17th respectively. Great running both of you.

In the Beacon 5km race Paul Allan and Deborah Baldwin-Sykes were our only competitors for this event. Paul finishied in an excellent 5th place in 17:28 with Deborah 75th in 38:03. Great work guys and nice to see you back Paul after your injury woes.

In the 10km race it was John Clifford who lead the club home finishing in a superb 35:01 for 2nd place with Jack Millican 8th in 39:36. Sarah Wilson finished in 49 mins dead for first club lady home.

On the half marathon we had some excellent performances right through the field, unfortunately results seem to be a little muddled right now and times being adjusted due to the mis-measurement. Dave Bracken was first Harrier home somewhere between 1:25-1:29 depending on the official results.

Lee Johnson continued his impressive year of running at the Richmond Castle 10km Sunday, a race described as one of the top 10 toughest 10k races in the UK. Coach Martin Scaife held the course record prior to the course being changed which he did in around 31 minutes. Lee finished the event in 35:47 for 3rd place, with girlfriend Amy Pickworth 2nd lady in 43:15 and Stephen Dauber 1:12:45. Full results can be found here

In Other News

On the 27th November Mike Watson and Jen Harrison are looking for a couple of volunteers to run around the park run with the C25k group. I’m sure everyone who is there will give all the group some support and may join the group for some or all of the run on the day. Please reach out to Mike and Jen direct to offer your support.

We are also looking at possible dates for us to get together as a club where we will include some recognition for achievements made over the last 18 months or so with last years season pretty much washed out. If you think someone at the club deserves special recognition please reach out to me directly (we have a list already so you may be confirming what we believe).

Next get together perhaps?
