Seniors tackle Preston park XC

News - Public

Another event to take place on Sunday morning was the new XC race at Preston Park, Eaglescliffe. The course starts with an uneven but flat grass section before turning left and down a fairly steep bank with a sharp left which saw some runners tumble who tried to take the 90 degree turn too sharp. The course then takes runners up a steady climb before again turning right to a nice incline, right again before turning left and up a climb which was on an angle leading to a flat section on grass towards a nice trail section.

To make life difficult this section was quite soft underfoot before reaching the trail making it hard work for all runners. From the trail section, runners returned to the flat section and back around to start their next loop.

A challenging course but compared to the runners who tackled Whitby this one was a walk in the park…or at least a slow run! The women completed 2 laps which was 5.7km with the men an additional lap covering 8.3km.

Some great performances, results have yet to be released so we will cover next week. Well done everyone who wore the club colours today and gave it a go!
