Over time, we’re going to introduce our members by way of a series of questions we’ve put to them; they’ve kindly agreed to let us publish their answers. On this occasion, it’s the turn of Justin Hindmarch
How long have you been a member:
5 years
Why did you start:
I was a member of Aycliffe Running Club (my hometown). I had known Paul Cook for a number of years and he told me the plans for the club so made the switch and have never looked back.
Favourite type of running (Road, XC, T&F, Fell etc):
Road, half marathons are my fave.
Best event you’ve taken part in (and why):
London Marathon despite the hot weather. Iconic with great support.
Event you’re looking forward to (and why):
Not got any booked in at the moment. Would love to do another iconic marathon after already doing London & Berlin.
What’s on your headphones while you train:
Some upbeat house music, only listen to music when on solo easy runs.
Favourite training session (and why):
Fartlek. Brutal, but works!
Do you take your trainers on holiday? If yes, where is the best place you’ve trained/ran?:
No. Too busy enjoying the local Cerveza!
Pre race food & drink of choice:
Porridge and water
Post race food & drink of choice:
McDonalds and beer
Favourite place to run:
Hamsterley Forest.
Best Club related memory:
Breaking 1:30 at the Brass Monkey Half Marathon, and our many social events 😆🍷
If you could go for a long chatty run with anyone, who would it be and why:
Eliud Kipchoge. Greatest ever marathon runner. Broke 2hrs. Speaks for itself.
Describe our club in three words:
Up. The. Harriers!
