Over time, we’re going to introduce our members by way of a series of questions we’ve put to them; they’ve kindly agreed to let us publish their answers. On this occasion, it’s the turn of Graham Garvey
How long have you been a member:
Why did you start:
I joined because of a chance meeting at parkrun with Paul cook in the toilets pre-run. The lengths that man goes too to recruit knows no bounds😄
Favourite type of running (Road, XC, T&F, Fell etc):
I’d have to go with trail, though just as tough as road it just mixes things up a little with terrain and changes in pace.
Best event you’ve taken part in (and why):
This kind of goes against my last answer but its got to be the Darlo 10k. Something about the home race and atmosphere, and also my 10k pb in 2017🙂
Event you’re looking forward to (and why):
At the minute the Sunderland half marathon which has been postponed for obvious reasons, but if that goes ahead this year I plan to push for a half marathon PB😅
What’s on your headphones while you train:
Nine times out of ten i don’t use headphones these days, but if I do its generally a mix of everything from 80s to rock to even a bit of Neil Diamond.
Favourite training session (and why):
Firstly I’d say Sunday long runs with good friends, secondly I love a bit of fartlek at Elm Ridge.
Do you take your trainers on holiday? If yes, where is the best place you’ve trained/ran?:
Holidays, what are they🤣 but yes wherever I go my running shoes are an essential part of packing. And running up in Scotland has got to be the best place to date.
Pre-race food & drink of choice:
Pizza, curry, pasta, anything really as long as I carb up . And I’m not against the odd pint or two the night before either 🙂.
Post race food & drink of choice:
Same as pre race 🤣.
Favourite place to run:
Best Club related memory:
Got to be the Darlo 10k photo shoots with Karen. When you sit back and look at the pictures and see what you’re a part of its pretty amazing
If you could go for a long chatty with anyone, who would it be and why:
To be honest it would be with the Sunday long runday crew. Its always good to banter with friends and share running stories etc 🙂.
