Under 17 middle distance runner, Ellie Phillips, is on top form at the moment! She got her second PB in as many days last week after finishing her 1500m at the NECAA Championships in 4:49.23, then continuing with an excellent 800m at the British Milers Club meet at Chester-leStreet, finishing in 2:21.68. Great stuff, Ellie, keep up the good work!

Oh, she then went on to appear in last week’s edition of Athletics Weekly. If you ask her nicely, she might even give you her autograph!

County Call Up For Pentathletes Some of the region’s best young athletes competed in the Durham County Schools’ Combined Events Championships, at Monkton Stadium last week. After a full day of action packed athletics, both the girls and boys teams from Darlington’s Carmel College were victorious, finishing first in the U15 Pentathlon. In the individual championships, two of our Junior Harriers who attend Carmel have been selected to represent the County at the Northern Championships – huge congratulations to Sarah Wilcock (Year 9) and Nat Bell (Year 8) – a fantastic achievement. Best of luck for the Northern’s, we look forward to hearing about how you get on!
