Our Under 13 Harrier, Libby Hammond was in action again last week, competing for her school at the Stockton Town Cross Country Championships. She was running in the Year 8/9 category, and as Libby is still in Year 8 it was going to be a tough race. She started well and kept up with the leader throughout, then, with about 800m to go she kicked hard to take the lead.
She continued to dig deep, gradually extending her lead, pushing all the way to the finish line to take first place, winning by about 150m! Town Champion for the second year running! Even more impressive when you consider she was the youngest athlete taking part, and the only Year 8 pupil to make it through to the County Championships in January. Well done, Libby, another fantastic performance.
