Kiplin Hall 10K

Race report provided by Hilary Bevan

A number of Harriers braved the sweltering heat to race in the Kiplin Hall 10k on Wednesday 9th June 2021.

This was another really well organised COVID secure event from Moors & Dales Races (MAD) with detailed instructions and videos sent out to participants beforehand so everyone knew how it would work.  Runners were set off in groups of six every 20 seconds.

The route is 2 laps of the extensive Kiplin Hall grounds taking in grassy fields, woodland trails, and a glorious lake.  Miles 1 and 4 were pretty tough as the grass was so uneven, it was hard on the ankles.  Miles 2 and 5 were beautiful woodland trails, offering some respite from the beating sun.  Miles 3 and 6 were a spectacular trot around the lake basking in the early evening light.

Small groups of spectators are now allowed and runners could gather in groups of up to 30 to chat after the race and so it felt like a really lovely sociable event.

Just back from a really enjoyable 10k trail run at Kiplin Hall and Gardens.
Very well organised event (with suitably rigorous COVID procedures in place) in great surroundings.
Happy with my time of 52:36 as it was only my second ever trail event. 5th in my age category of MV60.
