Our Junior groups start from 8 years old. All sessions are delivered by our volunteer coaches who are qualified through the England Athletics coach education programme and go through all the relevant security checks.
Young athletes will, in general, follow a recognised pathway through the sport, with focus shifting from multi-event based training as a younger athete through to event group and event specific training as they progress both in age and development.
We have four main Junior Groups
|Fundamental||Covering all aspects of athletics, introducing all the fundamental skills required in a fun and exciting format|
|Foundation||Multi-event approach to training, developing the skills already acquired and starting to introduce event groups in more detail|
|Speed||Focused training to further develop the skills required to sprint|
|Endurance||Focused training to further develop the skills required for endurance running|
We also have additional specialisms in Jumps, Hurdles and Throws
As a junior athlete, our members have lots of opportunity for competing and representing the club at Cross-Country and Track & Field (indoor and outdoor) competitions throughout the year.
There are plenty of Training sessions available, although we’re running a reduced schedule right now due to COVID restrictions in place by Eastbourne Leisure Centre. However, we do update the page regularly and all current guidance will be relayed to you there as we know more.
