Girls and Boys Dunne Good

Sunday saw a large turnout at the Redcar Running Festival where club members were spread over the mornings three events.

Athletes had the option of running the Beacon 5km, Zetland 10km or the Half Marathon on the day, with all courses flat and fast giving athletes a great platform to achieve a quick time.

On the day, the weather was wet which would have made the event miserable for both competitors and spectators alike although the rain would keep runners cool in their respective race.

In the Beacon 5km race it was Adam Harker who was first of our athletes home as he finished in 7th position in 18:35, a new personal best for Adam in this distance. Tom Baldwin Sykes finished 31st in a solid 24 minutes dead with Lynne Pape 113th position in 33:12.

Colin Taylor was once again the first Harrier home in the Half Marathon with a 1:20:51 for 15th place with Leigh Towers 36th in 1:25:35. There were other great performances through the membership and personal bests including a 1:31:58 from John Dunne, Steve Rogers 1:37:27 and a 1:42:16 from Nicola Young.

Great running all round.

John Clifford took 1st place in the Zetland 10km in 34:27 with Andrew Bainbridge just outside the 41 minute barrier on the day. A real big turn out for the 10km race with many personal bests and personal achievements seen. In tough conditions it would be very easy to take the easy option and stay at home but everyone who competed should be very proud of their achievements.
