Rosie and Lily Thompson were in action again during the week, but this time they were representing their school , Hummersknott Academy. They travelled to Tyneside for the Regional Badminton Finals in a bid to reach the National Finals later in the year. After a tough day of competition, Lily’s team won bronze and Rosie’s team won GOLD, earning them a place in the National Finals at Milton Keynes for the 3rd year running! Well done to both, a tremendous achievement!
At this very moment the girls are ‘on tour’ with the Hummersknott Badminton Club. This year the annual event takes them to Paris for 5 days via Eurostar, then Amiens (Darlington’s twin town) for two, followed by their final night in Lille. They’ll be playing several badminton matches with French and Belgian clubs as well as visiting the L’ouvre, going up the Eiffel Tower, a day at Eurodisney and a visit to the WW1 military cemetery near Amiens. So a busy week ahead! It’s the girls’ first time abroad as well so they’ve really being looking forward to it. They were just gutted when they found out it clashed with the Kieran Maxwell event.
Anyway, “BonVoyage”girls, have a fantastic time
