Charlotte Heads South For National Finals

On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of September, Charlotte Rutter competed in the English Schools Combined Events Championships in Exeter. She was competing in the heptathlon as a Cleveland athlete, having qualified as one of the highest national individual scorers following the regional rounds in June.

The weekend was a fantastic sporting event with a typical mix of September weather; sunshine on Saturday and torrential rain on Sunday. But whatever the weather, Charlotte was as enthusiastic as ever, and competed to her usual high standard over the two days. She was particularly pleased with a long jump of 5.08m which was a new PB and her first jump over 5m!

As you can imagine, the competition were top notch at this level, and considering this was Charlotte’s first year at the seven event Heptathlon, she was delighted with her overall performance of 3,925 points. This put her in 24th place, which as a first year Intermediate (U17) Girl, is a tremendous achievement. We look forward to seeing you back again next year, and hopefully you won’t have to travel as far! Well done Charlotte
