Three of our Junior Harriers were part of the winning boys team at the Durham Schools Combined Events Championships on Tuesday. Carmel College had enough talent at their disposal to enter four teams of four Year 7 & 8 students, including our very own Nat Bell, Benedict Davies and James Wilcock, who ran, jumped, threw and hurdled their way to success in the five disciplined event.
Carmel’s A team finished the clear winners with an impressive total of 4983 points, which was 1335 points ahead of their nearest rival, which was Carmel’s B team. Following in 3rd place were Durham School with 3600 points. Out of the 32 taking part , Junior Harrier, Nat Bell was declared the Under 14 County Champion with an excellent total of 1979 points; a healthy 403 points ahead of 2nd place…..and, although not officially recognised at this event, he got PB’s in the hurdles, shot and 800m. Nat, still only 13, is on a bit of a roll at the moment, having already qualified to represent Durham County in the Under 15 Pentathlon later this month.
Benedict and James, both still in Year 7, finished in 8th and 17th place respectively (final totals still to be confirmed.)
Well done to the Carmel team, especially our three Junior Harriers…….as always, top performances from you all! #UTH
