Alex Conquers Biathlon

Last weekend, Alex Boyer competed at the British Modern Biathlon Championships at Nottingham. The Harvey Hadden Sports Centre was the venue for the event which attracted hundreds of athletes of all ages over the weekend, with Alex taking on another 30 athletes in the Under 13 category on the Sunday.

As you probably know by now the biathlon is made up of two disciplines; a swim and a run. Alex completed the 100m swim in an impressive 1:05.11 which left him in 4th place; a strong position, but still with some work to do. So when it came to the 1600m run, he took the initiative from the gun, ran a fantastic race, and won in a time of 5:07.00 (flying the flag in his DHAC colours!). This gave him a grand total of 2580 points across the 2 disciplines, taking 1st place overall by a clear 78 points!

He now adds this to the British Schools Biathlon title he won in March 2019.

An amazing achievement, Alex, huge congratulations from all at Darlington Harriers!
